What is Gua Sha?
While Gua Sha is now a trendy facial massage tool, it actually has a lot of history. Originally an ancient Chinese healing technique, Gua Sha is a natural alternative that involves scraping the skin with small tools.
What the Benefits of Using Gua Sha Massage Face?
This unique approach to improving health brings many benefits. These include:
- Improve circulation
- Reduce inflammation and lymphatic drainage
- Release tension in the face and neck
- Improves the appearance of fine lines and dark circles
- How to use Gua Sha
While they may seem like a scary or confusing skincare tool, Gua Sha is actually pretty simple to use. In addition to the face, it can also be used on the body and scalp, but make sure not to use it on bare skin. Best used with water or oil to ensure your skin is protected!
After moisturizing your skin, simply follow these steps:
Hold your Gua Sha with the curved side close to your face. Starting at the neck, gently slide up and out. Make sure you stroke your neck, not up, to drain the fluid.
Next move to your chin, chin, and around your mouth, stroking the skin three to five times in each area. Always do short strokes only in one direction, not back and forth. If you want to reduce puffiness, work gently, then relax your muscles more firmly.
Press the tool flat against the skin, then gently stroke under the eyes or any redness to soothe and reduce puffiness.
Finally, make small horizontal strokes on the brow bone to lift, or hold between the brows and press up to release tension.
How Gua Sha Helps Different Areas of Your Face
Neck – A gentle downward stroke promotes blood circulation, lifts and conditions the skin.
Jawline – cheeks and chin – stroke from the inside of the face outward to lift the complexion while firming the skin.
Nose – Delicate short strokes relieve puffiness.
Eye Area – Stroking the eye area reduces fine lines and dark circles while soothing, reducing puffiness and reducing redness.
Forehead – A horizontal stroke over the brow bone smoothes wrinkles, lifts the skin and releases tension.
When Should Gua Sha Massage Face be Use?
To see real results, we recommend that you use Gua Sha around 2 to 3 times a week. But what time of day really depends on the type of results you’re after. Scraping in the morning treats puffiness while revitalizing the skin. Although you’re more likely to work at night to relax your facial muscles and release tight connective tissue in your face.
What is the Difference Between Gua Sha and Jade Roller?
While both gua sha and rollers help with lymphatic drainage, scraping targets the fibrous tissue of the face to release tension, lift and firm the skin. The shape of the Gua Sha is ideal for “sculpting” the facial muscles while creating pressure and stretching the muscles.
How Long Does It Take for Gua Sha Massage Face to Work?
Regarding the relief of puffiness and tension, you can see results almost immediately. However, we recommend that you use Gua Sha a few times a week to see what other benefits this tool can bring. After a few weeks of regular use, a more lifted and toned complexion will begin to appear!
