Xiuyan jade is one of the four most famous jades in Chinese history, named for its production in xiuyan, Liaoning Province. It is generally divided into two categories, one is old jade, which is with translucent nephrite, with a rustic texture and white color, a precious type of russet jade, and the other is xiuyan jade, which is warm, delicate and mostly green in color. on December 31, 2005, the Hanging Frame Quality Inspection Bureau implemented the protection of geographical indication products for xiuyan jade.
The material composition of xiuyan jade is complex, and its physical properties vary. By mineral composition, xiuyan jade can be divided into serpentine jade, tremolite jade, and a mixture of the two previous types of jade, with serpentine jade predominating.
