You may have noticed that the color of gua sha will be different each time you scrape, and that the condition and color of gua sha may vary from one area to another. What’s going on here? I would like to spread this knowledge to you today.
First of all, it is common to see deep red or purplish-red colors, which we all know represent heat symptom and damp-heat symptom respectively. But there are exceptions, as shown below.

Pale blue, purple chunks- Qi deficiency and blood stasis
Blue-violet – heavy internal cold
Black and purple and dark – Blood stasis and chills
Extensive warmth – heart chill
Then, different parts of the body also represent different symptoms.
Cervical spine – falling asleep, laryngitis, cervical spine pathology
Large vertebrae – poor flow of qi and blood throughout the body
Spine – poor sleep quality

The red and purple cholera on the neck region of the shoulder is considered to be frozen shoulder, and the cholera on the shoulder seam is considered to be poor lymphatic drainage.
These can be based on the color of gua sha and the site of the gua sha to determine a person’s physical condition, but there will also be this condition – no ‘sha’. A person’s explanation, a person doesn’t appear ‘sha’, and it’s not because the scraping strength, but the person’s physique is deficient, the qi and blood is not sufficient. The actual reason is because of the fact that a person’s own personal life is not as good as their own.
The reason why Gua Sha is using essential oils is because essential oils can integrate Chinese herbal extracts into the human body’s meridians, so as to achieve twice the effect with half the effort. It can also enhance your own immunity, enhance the meridian running qi, reverse body pathologies, and restore normal physiological functions.
