Jade was mined and processed as early as the Paleolithic era. At that time, jade was made into different shapes, such as beads, buttons, flutes, hairpins, etc. In the course of development, jade was also gradually made into tools and weapons. Jade has also always represented the social status of people.
By three thousand years ago, jade was called ‘yu” or ‘royal gem’.
According to Xu Shen of the Han Dynasty, jade contained five qualities.
Luster and brilliance represent love and kindness.
The translucent texture represents integrity.
Translucent Tone stands for wisdom.
Jade can be broken, but not distorted, and represents honesty and courage.
What is jade?
Jade is a precious gemstone unlike any other. In fact, there are two types of jade, one is nephrite and the other is hard jade. These two types of jade are made from different silicate minerals. Nephrite, generally referred to as Xinjiang Hetian Jade, is the earliest discovered material in China and the most widely used. Hard jade refers to jadeite from Burma. It has been prevalent in China since the 14th century and has been traded a lot. Jadeite is harder, denser and easier to work.
Maintenance of Jade
1.Avoid collision with hard objects. Sometimes, although the cracks are not visible to the naked eye, there are actually dark cracks inside the surface layer of jade, which greatly damages its perfection and economic value.
2.Jade should be protected from the sun. Avoid exposure to sunlight, which may affect the texture and color of the jade.
3.Avoid chemicals, as they can cause damage to the jade, such as detergents, soaps, pesticides, cosmetics, perfumes, hairdressing agents, etc. If you are not careful, you should avoid chemicals. If accidentally stained, it should be wiped off and cleaned in time, do not let it cause damage to the jade stone.
4.Avoid dust and oil stains as much as possible. If there is any dirt or oil stain on the surface of the jade, it should be washed with light soap and water, and then rinsed with clean water, avoiding the use of chemical stain removers.
5.Newly purchased jade pieces should be soaked in water for a few hours, cleaned with a soft bristle brush (toothbrush), and then dried with a clean cotton cloth before wearing.
6.Pendant should be wiped with a clean, soft and white cloth, not with dyed cloth or hard fiber fabric, which will help to maintain and preserve the original quality.
7.Clean the pendant regularly. Jade pieces should be cleaned every once in a while.
8.Jade pendants and other hanging ornaments, should always check the tether to prevent loss or damage to the beloved treasures.
